Fitness Photo Shoot in San Diego, CA – Butterfly Pull-Ups

Awhile back I worked with Ashley and Josh for a series of training images for their personal portfolios.  Both of them were in amazing shape and came to the shoot ready to kick some ass.  I had them working out almost constantly during the 5 hour session.  Here is a shot of Ashley doing Butterfly Pull-Ups. She did this many times until we got the right shot.  Amazing day!

Time Trials photographed in Boulder, CO

Awhile back I had the opportunity to photograph Time Trials in Boulder, CO.  With storm clouds setting in and these incredible athletes pushing themselves it created an amazing opportunity for some dramatic images.

Craig Cooper photographed in Newport Beach for his new book, The New Prime

Last fall, Craig Cooper contacted me to photograph him for his upcoming book “Your New Prime” and blog by the same name.  Craig is the founder of Cooperative Health. Chairman of Prostate Cancer Institute and Performance Research Labs. Co-Founder, Boost Mobile USA. Health & wellness advocate for 50+ men’s health and author of the upcoming title “Your New Prime: 30 Days to Better Sex, Eternal Strength, and a Kick Ass Life After 40”.

We shot several images over a two day period.  These are just a few of the shots that we made.  I was completely blown away by Craig’s unbelievable endurance and stamina over the two day period… he literally trained all day, every day for the entire two days.  I consider myself to be in pretty good physical condition and I had a hard time just keeping up to photograph him.  This man knows his stuff  and practices what he preaches… daily.

If your a guy over 40, definitely check out his blog at www.thenewprime.com

Jessica photographed at El Matador State Beach in Malibu, CA

A few years ago a received a call from Jessica asking me to photograph her.  She was considering moving to Los Angeles from Chicago and wanted to work on her fitness portfolio.  We ended up spending the better part of the day shooting at El Matador (One of my favorite places in LA to shoot) and came away some beautiful images.  I’m glad to say that Jessica made the move and is now a personal trainer at the MECCA (Gold’s Gym Venice).  While I haven’t had the pleasure of training with her, my belief is that the best trainers walk the walk and I think that you can tell from these images that Jess definitely “walks the walk”.

Ashley and Josh Photographed in San Diego, CA

Ashley contacted me about taking some pictures of her after her fitness competition last fall. She brought her guy with her (Josh), who is a Navy Seal.  Both of them were absolutely amazing during the shoot and were in phenomenal physical condition.  I found out during the shoot that Josh also owns a fitness apparel company called Soaring Eagle Apparel and that Ashley founded and operates a wonderful organization (Linder Kids), that provides both physical and emotional fitness for children in the foster care system.

Kimber Photographed at Big Bear and the Mojave Desert, CA

Kimber and I have worked together for a number of years.  She is always willing to stretch herself as a model and an athlete to get amazing images.  Both of these shots were done as personal projects.  For the for the first shot we drove 3 1/2 hours from San Diego out to the Mojave Desert, shot until sundown and drove back another 3 1/2 hours.  I think it was worth it.

The second image was shot in Big Bear, California.  Kimber, my good friend Topher Morrison and a small group of expert climber spent the day in Big Bear shooting stock imagery.  I was synched in about 60 feet up for about 3 hours while they took turns climbing.  I’m not a climber so I really had to work on my fear of heights.  I’m happy I did.

Kimber is the owner of Creatively Spoken and has worked as a professional speaker, on-camera host, voice talent, reporter and live presenter for over a decade.
